In a message read that night, the Master said, “Many have not understood what true renunciation is. Renunciation of physical objects is no renunciation at all. True renunciation lies in the abnegation of the mind. If you can renounce the ego, you have renounced everything.”
On this auspicious occasion devotees should contemplate on the spiritual spark that blazed forth as the great Swami Sivananda, whose presence and Tapas, whose spirituality, goodness and large-heartedness became the nucleus and the seed for this large institution which vibrates today in the hearts of many people in this country and throughout the world. We pay obeisance to him by directing our thoughts and contemplating on the eternal values he wrote about for our own spiritual growth.
66TH ANNIVERSARY OF DIVINE LIFE SOCIETY OF S.A.
The 66th Anniversary of Divine Life Society of South Africa was observed on Friday, 5 June at Sivanandashram, Reservoir Hills. In an audio message, Pujya Swamiji exhorted seekers to exercise patience in expecting quick results from their Sadhana. Evolution is not revolution, said Pujya Swamiji. Progress is taking place all the time. We do not have the spiritual eyes to see this. Our duty is persist in our efforts.
The letters written by our Divine Master, Sri Swami Sivananda to our Pujya Swamiji during the period 1948-1963 were read out from the book, Priceless Jewels, using a power-point presentation. These letters have been carefully and methodically preserved by Pujya Swamiji. The book is a treasure trove to all sincere devotees and spiritual seekers, providing inspiring glimpses into the Master’s Divine Personality and the deep spiritual bond between Guru and disciple.
