Om Namo Bhagavade Sivanandaya
Established in 1949 by Sri Swami Sivananda
It was 9 years ago since Pujya Swami Sahajananda, the apostle of self-surrender and the godlike disciple of our Divine Master, Sri Swami Sivananda, withdrew from his physical body to continue the divine work from the higher celestial regions. To mark this occasion, Divine Life Society of South Africa observed 10 December 2016 in his sacred memory. The day commenced at 6am with Ganga Arati, Invocation, visit to Sahaja Kutir, Pujya Swamiji's room and Sahajananda Diamond Jubilee Centre. Chanting of the Sri Ram Jaya Ram Jaya Jaya Ram Mantra started at 7am and concluded at 3pm. This was followed by a Homa (Maha Mrityunjaya Mantra) from 3 – 3.30pm. After tea, Ganga Arati started at 4pm and Satsang thereafter.
In response to a request by Asoka Secondary School to assist educators meet the challenges in the classroom and on the playing field, the Sunlit Path Committee initiated a workshop to share ideas on possible ways of approaching the problem. This workshop took place on Tuesday, 22 November 2016 from 12.00 to 14.00. It was pleasing to see that apart from the 25 educators from the school, the workshop was attended by a few parents and officials of the department of education.

Deepavali is one of the numerous celebrations to which we are heir and which takes us at once back to the thought of our Godhead. This particular festival has a deep significance in several directions.

Our Master's 129th Birth Anniversary Celebrations were held at the Sivananda International Cultural Centre on Sunday, 4 September 2016 and at Sivanandashram, Reservoir Hills on Thursday, 8 September 2016. This momentous event also commemorated 20 years of the consecration of Ganga Rani (the first pool that was built and consecrated with Ganges water at SICC), to South Africa. The occasion also coincided with the final chanting of the 41-day recitation of the Sri Hanuman Chalisa which commenced at 6am and culminated with Havan.
