The programme included a delightful variety of items such as chanting of the Om Namah Sivaya Mantra, offerings at the Siva Linga, Bhajans and Kirtans, classical dancing, video screenings, audio recorded plays and inspiring readings, plays and messages interspersed throughout the night. Guest artists added richness to the programme by offering beautifully choreographed dances and melodious Bhajans and Kirtans. At Reservoir Hills, our Divine Master's voice and Pujya Swamiji's pre-recorded Bhajans in praise of Lord Siva inspired the congregation. The informative presentation by our Spiritual Darlings explaining the symbols that typically appear in pictures of Lord Siva was well received.
All over the world, the old year has just now passed out and a New Year has commenced. Through the age-long association of ideas, time has come to have a peculiar efficacy for all beginnings, fresh endeavours, new resolves and turning over a new leaf. It is the most propitious time. Make full use of this psychological moment. Do not lose this opportunity.

“We, the younger generation, were not as fortunate to have been in the presence of such a great Swami as Swami Sahajananda but we will always remember him and be grateful to him for following Gurudev’s instructions by providing us with the best facilities in the world for our spiritual growth. We will not forget Swamiji and we will ensure that his legacy and his work continue for generations to come.” These are the words of the Spiritual Darlings of Sivananda Sunday School of Reservoir Hills at Pujya Swami Sahajananda’s 8th Mahasamadhi Anniversary which was observed on Thursday, 10 December (English Calendar) at Sivanandashram, Reservoir Hills. On Monday, 14 December the function was also observed according to the Sanskrit Calendar at the same venue. It attracted devotees from all parts of the province.
The Society is undertaking its bi-annual grocery hamper distribution to needy families in commemoration of beloved Pujya Swami Sahajananda. The anniversary of Divine Life Society of S.A. was observed on Sunday, 8 November in conjunction with our Sivananda Day Satsang at SICC. As the actual day of the anniversary (11 November) coincided with Deepavali, it was decided to observe this day on 8 November.
Deepavali Message by Sri Swami Sivananda
Deepavali or Diwali means "a row of lights". It falls on the last two days of the dark half of Kartik (October-November). For some it is a three-day festival. It commences with the Dhan-Teras, on the 13th day of the dark half of Kartik, followed the next day by the Narak Chaudas, the 14th day, and by Deepavali proper on the 15th day.
